Made with a music teacher, for music teachers

Refrain was built with a Montessori music teacher, for music teachers using First Steps in Music and Conversational Solfège.

It grew out of years of planning in spreadsheets and Notion, and it keeps what worked: a year map, song pools that schedule themselves, and a class log that remembers what you taught.

What we believe

• The schedule is a suggestion. Refrain fills in the lessons, and you change anything you like.
• Follow the children. Solfège steps move when a class is ready, forwards or back, not when a lesson was taught.
• Classes, not children. Refrain keeps notes about each class and never builds records about individual students.
• Calm over clever. Dense when you need it, quiet when you don’t.
